Psalm 15:3-4

And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one."

Psalm 14:7

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
Psalm 2:6  "I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."

When the LORD restores his people

Psalm 14:4-6

Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD. But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. You evil doers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

Do all these evildoers know nothing?
Psalm 82:5  "The 'gods' (rulers and judges) know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken."
Jeremiah 4:22  "My people are fools; they do not know me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good."

They devour my people as though eating bread

Micah 3:1-4  Then I said, "Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel. Should you not embrace justice, you who hate good and love evil; who tear the skin from my people and the flesh from their bones; who eat my people's flesh, strip off their skin and break their bones in pieces; who chop them up like meat for the pan, like flesh for the pot?" Then they will cry out to the LORD, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done.

they never call on the LORD
Psalm 79:6  Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the kingdoms that do not call on your name; ...

Psalm 14:1-3 Part 2 of 2

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

all have become corrupt
2 Peter 2:4-9  For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard) --if this is so, then the LORD knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.

there is no one who does good
1 Kings 8:46  "When they sin against you--for there is no one who does not sin--and you become angry with them and give them over to their enemies, who take them captive to their own lands, far away or near; ..."
Psalm 43:2  Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you.
Ecclesiastes 7:20  Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.

not even one
Romans 3:10-12  As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." [Psalm 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Ecclesiastes 17:20]

to see if there are any who understand

Psalm 55:1-3  Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught because of what my enemy is saying, because of the threats of the wicked; for they bring down suffering on me and assail me with their anger.

Many disasters and calamities will come on them, and in that day they will ask, 'Have not these disasters come on us because our God is not with us?' And I will certainly hide my face in that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods."

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD, who has compassion on you..

Psalm 12:7-8

You, LORD, will keep the needy safe and will protect us forever from the wicked, who freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.

You, LORD, will keep the needy safe
Psalm 16:1  Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.

who freely strut about
Psalm 55:10-11  Day and night they (the wicked) prowl about on its walls; malice and abuse are within it. Destructive forces are at work in the city; threats and lies never leave its streets.
Romans 1:28-32  Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Because the poor are plundered

Psalm 72:14  He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.
Psalm 73:8  They (the arrogant, the wicked) scoff and speak with malice; with arrogance they threaten oppression.
Ecclesiastes 4:1  Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed--and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors--and they have no comforter.
Ecclesiastes 5:8  If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others still higher.
Isaiah 3:15  "What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?" declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.
Isaiah 5:7  The vineyard of the LORD Almighty is the nation of Israel, and the people of Judah are the vines he delighted in. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.
Isaiah 30:12-13  Therefore this is what the Holy One of Israel says: "Because you have rejected this message, relied on oppression and depended on deceit, this sin will become for you like a high wall, cracked and bulging, that collapses suddenly, in an instant."
Isaiah 59:12-13  For our offenses are many in your sight, and our sins testify against us. Our offenses are ever with us, and we acknowledge our iniquities: rebellion and treachery against the LORD, turning our backs on our God, inciting revolt and oppression, uttering lies our hearts have conceived.

Psalm 12:3-4

May the LORD silence all flattering lips and every boastful tongue--those who say, "By our tongues we will prevail; our own lips will defend us--who is lord over us?"

May the LORD silence all flattering lips
Proverbs 26:28  A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

James 3:5  Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.
Revelation 13:5  The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.

"By our tongues we will prevail"
Proverbs 18:21  The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
James 3:6  The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one's life on fire, and is itself set of fire by hell.
Mark 7:20-23  He (Jesus) went on: "What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is within, out of a person's heart, that evil thoughts come--sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person."

Revelation 9:17  The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur.
Revelation 14:9-10  A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, they, too, will drink the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb."

a scorching wind will be their lot

After them, seven other heads of grain sprouted--thin and scorched by the east wind. The thin heads of grain swallowed up the seven healthy, full heads. Then Pharaoh woke up; it had been a dream.
Job 1:18-19  While he was still speaking, yet another messenger came and said, "Your sons and daughters were feasting and drinking wine at the oldest brother's house, when suddenly a mighty wind swept in from the desert and struck the four corners of the house. Psalm 11:5

The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion.

The LORD examines the righteous
Deuteronomy 7:12-15  If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the LORD your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your ancestors. He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land--your grain, new wine and olive oil--the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you. You will be blessed more than any other people; none of your men or women will be childless, nor will any of your livestock be without young. The LORD will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all who hate you.

Psalm 45:7  You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.
Isaiah 1:12-15  (the LORD speaking to Israel) "When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts? Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations--I cannot bear your worthless assemblies. Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Psalm 11:3

When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Psalm 18:15  The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at your rebuke, LORD, at the blast of breath from your nostrils
Psalm 82:5  "The 'gods' know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken."
