But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God
Psalm 1:1-3  Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. TRUST Psalm 49:12-13

People, despite their wealth, do not endure; they are like the beasts that perish. This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings.

People, despite their wealth, do not endure
Job 14:1-2  "Mortals, born of woman, are of few days and full of trouble. They spring up like flowers and wither away; like fleeting shadows, they do not endure."

they are like the beasts that perish
Psalm 49:20  People who have wealth but lack understanding are like the beasts that perish.
2 Peter 2:12  But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish.
Ecclesiastes 3:18-19  I also said to myself, "As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless."
Psalm 73:21-22  When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you.

This is the fate of those who trust in themselves
Luke 12:20-21  "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God."

and boast
Psalm 10:3  He (the wicked man) boasts about the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.

TRUST Psalm 25:1-3 Part 2 of 2

In you, LORD my God, I put my trust. I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.

TRUST Psalm 20:7

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

Some trust in chariots
2 Kings 19:23  (Concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria) " 'By your messengers you have ridiculed the Lord. And you have said, "With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its junipers. I have reached its remotest parts, the finest of its forests." ' "

and some in horses

Psalm 33:17  A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.

Isaiah 36:8-9  " 'Come now, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses--if you can put riders on them! How then can you repulse one officer of the least of my master's officials, even though you are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen?' "

but we trust in the name of the LORD our God
2 Chronicles 32:6-8  He appointed military officers over the people and assembled them before him in the square at the city gate and encouraged them with these words: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles." And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.

Will you rely on it for its great strength? Will you leave your heavy work to it? Can you trust it to haul in your grain and bring it to your threshing floor?"  (God speaking to Job)

Will the wild ox (aurochs, wild ancestor of domestic cattle)
Numbers 23:22  "God brought them out of Egypt; they have the strength of a wild ox."
Deuteronomy 33:17  "In majesty he is like a firstborn bull; his horns are the horns of a wild ox. With them he will gore the nations, even those at the ends of the earth. Such are the ten thousands of Ephraim; such are the thousands of Manasseh."

TRUST Job 31:24-28 Part 5 of 5

"If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold, 'You are my security,' if I have rejoiced over my great wealth, the fortune my hands had gained, if I have regarded the sun in its radiance or the moon moving in splendor, so that my heart was secretly enticed and my hand offered them a kiss of homage, then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high." (Job)

then these also would be sins to be judged
Genesis 38:24  About three months later Judah was told, "Your daughter-in-law Tamar is guilty of prostitution, and as a result is now pregnant." Judah said, "Bring her out and have her burned to death!" As she was being brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law. "I am pregnant by the man who owns these," she said. And she added. "See if you recognize whose seal and cord and staff these are." Judah recognized them and said, "She is more righteous than I, since I wouldn't give her to my son Shelah." And he did not sleep with her again.
Deuteronomy 17:2-7  If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the LORD gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God in violation of his covenant, and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars in the sky, and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death. On the testimony of two or three witnesses a person is to be put to death, but no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness. The hands of the witnesses must be the first in putting that person to death, then the hands of all the people. You must purge the evil from among you.

for I would have been unfaithful to God on high
Numbers 11:19-20  " 'You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, but for a whole month--until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it--because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, "Why did we ever leave Egypt?" ' "
Ezekiel 8:16  Then he brought me into the inner court of the house of the LORD, and there at the entrance to the temple, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men. With their backs toward the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east, they were bowing down to the sun in the east.

Job 24:15  "The eye of the adulterer watches for dusk; he thinks, 'No eye will see me.' and he keeps his face concealed." (Job)
James 1:13-15  When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

and my hand offered them a kiss of homage
Jeremiah 8:1-2  " 'At that time, declares the LORD, the bones of the kings and officials of Judah, the bones of the priests and prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves. They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens, which they have loved and served and which they have followed and consulted and worshiped. They will not be gathered up or buried, but will be like dung lying on the ground.' "
Jeremiah 16:10-11  "When you tell these people all this and they ask you, 'Why has the LORD decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the LORD our God?' then say to them, 'It is because your ancestors forsook me,' declares the LORD, 'and followed other gods and served and worshiped them. They forsook me and did not keep my law."

Altogether, those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds numbered 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages.
