GLORY 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

GLORY 2 Corinthians 4:15

All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

2 Corinthians1:8-11  We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.
2 Corinthians 9:11-12  You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

Psalm 18:28  You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.

made his light shine in our hearts
2 Peter 1:19  We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ

2 Corinthians 3:14  But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.

so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ

GLORY 2 Corinthians 3:18

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate
1 Corinthians 13:12  For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

the Lord's glory
John 17:22-24  " I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one--I in them and you in me--so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world."
2 Corinthians 4:4-6  The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
John 17:5  "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."
Romans 12:2  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

GLORY 2 Corinthians 3:9-11

If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious
2 Corinthians 3:7-8  Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?
Deuteronomy 27:26  "Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out." Then all the people shall say, "Amen!"

how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness
Romans 1:17  For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed--a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." (Habakkuk 2:4)
Romans 3:21-24  But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
Hebrews 8:8-10  But God found fault with the people and said: "The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people." (Jeremiah 31:31-34)
Hebrews 8:13  By calling this covenant "new", he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

GLORY 2 Corinthians 3:7-8

Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?

Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone
2 Corinthians 3:9  If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!
Romans 4:13-15  It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory
2 Corinthians 3:13  We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.
Exodus 34:29-35  When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the LORD had given him on Mount Sinai. When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. But whenever he entered the LORD's presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the LORD.
Isaiah 42:21  It pleased the LORD for the sake of his righteousness to make his law great and glorious.

GLORY 2 Corinthians 1:20

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.

For no matter how many promises god has made, they are "Yes" in Christ
Romans 15:8-9  For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God's truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing the praises of your name." (2 Samuel 22:50; Psalm 18:49)

And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us
1 Corinthians 14:16-17  Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying? You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.
1 Chronicles 16:36  Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said "Amen" and "Praise the LORD."
Nehemiah 8:6  Ezra praised the LORD, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, "Amen! Amen!" Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
Psalm 106:48  Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Praise the LORD.
Revelation 5:14  The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.
Revelation 7:11-12  All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

to the glory of God
Psalm 46:10  He says "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Psalm 47:8-9  God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.

GLORY 1 Corinthians 15:42-44

So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

So will it be
Daniel 12:3  "Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever."
Matthew 13:43  "Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear."

with the resurrection of the dead
1 Corinthians 15:12  But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable
1 Corinthians 15:50  I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
1 Corinthians 15:53-54  For the imperishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." (Isaiah 25:8)

it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory
Philippians 3:20-21  But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
Colossians 3:4  When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

GLORY 1 Corinthians 10:31

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Zechariah 14:20-21  On that day HOLY TO THE LORD will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the LORD's house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar. Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the LORD Almighty.
Colossians 3:17  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
1 Peter 4:11  If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

GLORY 1 Corinthians 2:6-7

We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God's wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.

We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature
Ephesians 4:13  ... until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Philippians 3:15  All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
Colossians 4:12  Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.
Hebrews 5:14  But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
Hebrews 6:1  Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, ...
James 1:4  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking in anything.

but not the wisdom of this age
1 Corinthians 2:8  None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1 Corinthians 1:20  Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing
Psalm 146:3-4  Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

No, we declare God's wisdom, a mystery
1 Corinthians 2:1  And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.

that has been hidden
Romans 16:25-26  Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith ...

GLORY Romans 16:27

... to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

Romans 11:36  For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
Psalm 86:9  All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.
Psalm 86:12  I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
Psalm 96:7-8  Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts.
Psalm 115:1  Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
1 Corinthians 10:31  So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Ephesians 1:11-14  In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
Revelation 15:4  "Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed."
Revelation 19:1  After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, ..."
Revelation 19:7  "Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready."

GLORY Romans 15:17

Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.

Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus
Philippians 3:3-11  For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh--though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ--yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

in my service to God
Hebrews 2:17-18  For this reason he (Jesus Christ) had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

GLORY Romans 11:35-36

"Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?" For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?
Job 41:11  "Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me."
Job 35:7  "If you are righteous, what do you give to him, or what does he receive from your hand?"

For from him and through him and for him are all things
1 Corinthians 8:6  ... yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
1 Corinthians 11:12  For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
Colossians 1:16  For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
Hebrews 2:10  In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.

To him be the glory forever! Amen
Romans 16:27  ... to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
Ephesians 3:21  ... to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
1 Timothy 1:17  Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 5:11  To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
Jude 25  ... to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
Revelation 5:13  Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!"
Revelation 7:12  ... saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

GLORY Romans 9:22-24

What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory--even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?

What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience
Romans 2:4  Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction
Proverbs 16:4  The LORD works out everything to its proper end--even the wicked for a day of disaster.

What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory
Romans 8:30  And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

even us, whom he called
Romans 8:28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles
Romans 3:28-31  For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised by that same faith. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

GLORY Romans 9:3-5 Part 3 of 3

For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

and the promises
Acts 13:32-33  "We tell you the good news: What God promised our ancestors he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: 'You are my son; today I have become your father.' (Psalm 2:7)"
Galatians 3:16  The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," (Genesis 12:7; 13:15; 24:7)  meaning one person, who is Christ.

Theirs are the patriarchs
Romans 11:28-29  As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God's gifts and his call are irrevocable.

and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah
Matthew 1:1  (See verses 1-16 for Jesus' genealogy listed here)  This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham: ...
Romans 1:3  ... regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, ...

who is God over all
John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Colossians 2:9  For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, ...

forever praised
Romans 1:25  They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.
2 Corinthians 11:31  The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is to be praised forever, knows that I am not lying.

GLORY Romans 9:3-5 Part 2 of 3

For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

theirs the divine glory
Hebrews 9:5  Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.

the covenants
Genesis 17:1-2  When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers."
Deuteronomy 4:13  He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he had commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.
Acts 3:25  "And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all the peoples on earth will be blessed.' " (Genesis 22:18; 26:4)
Ephesians 2:12  ... remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of promise, without hope and without God in the world.

the receiving of the law
Psalm 147:19-20  He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel. He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD.

the temple worship
Hebrews 9:1  Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary.

GLORY Romans 9:3-5 Part 1 of 3

For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

For I could wish that I myself
Exodus 32:31-32  So Moses went back to the LORD and said, "Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold. But now, please forgive their sin--but if not, blot me out of the book you have written."

were cursed and cut off from Christ
1 Corinthians 12:3  Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 16:22  If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord!

for the sake of my people, those of my own race
Romans 11:13-14  I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.

the people of Israel
Romans 9:6  It is not as though God's word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

Theirs is the adoption to sonship
Exodus 4:22-23  "Then say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son, and I told you, "Let my son go, so he may worship me." But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.' "
Exodus 6:7  " 'I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.' "
Deuteronomy 7:6  For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.

GLORY Romans 8:19-21

For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.

For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed
Romans 8:14  For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it
Genesis 3:17-19  To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat from it,' cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."
Genesis 5:29  He (Lamech) named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed."

in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay
Acts 3:19-21  "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah who has been appointed for you--even Jesus. Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets."
2 Peter 3:13  But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
Revelation 21:1  Then I saw "a new heaven and a new earth," (Isaiah 65:17) for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.

and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God
John 1:12-13  Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

GLORY Romans 8:18

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18  Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

1 Peter 4:12-19  Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or a thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with God's household; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And, "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?" (Proverbs 11:31) So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
