1 John 3:4-6 Part 2 of 2

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

No one who lives in him keeps on sinning.
1 John 3:9  No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. (see verses 7-10)
1 John 5:18  We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. (see verses 13-21)

No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
3 John 11  Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. (see all 3 John)
Titus 1:15-16  To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. (see verses 10-16)
1 John 4:7-8  Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (see all chapter 4)
1 John 1:6-10  If we claim to have fellowship with him (God) and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. (see all chapter 1)

1 John 3:1-3 Part 2 of 2

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
John 15:21  "They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me." (see verses 18-25)
John 16:3  "They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me." (see verses 15:26-16:15)

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. but we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

Colossians 3:4  When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (see verses 1-17)

All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
2 Corinthians 7:1  Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. (see verses 6:14-7:1)
2 Peter 1:3-4  His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (see verses 1-11)
2 Peter 3:13-14  But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. (see all chapter 3)

1 John 3:1-3 Part 1 of 2

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us,
John 3:16  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (see verses 14-19)

Ephesians 2:4-5  But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved. (see verses 1-10)
1 John 4:9-10  This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (see verses 7-21)

that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
1 John 3:10  This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God's child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.
John 1:11-12  He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--...
Romans 8:14-16  For those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. (see verses 1-17)

If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.

1 John 2:26-27 Part 2 of 2

I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in him.

But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--
1 Corinthians 2:10b-13 The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. (see verses 6-16)

just as it has taught you, remain in him.
John 15:4-5  "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (see verses 1-9)
John 6:54-56  "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them." (see verses 25-59)
1 John 2:24  As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. (see verses 20-27)
1 John 3:24  The one who keeps God's commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. (see verses 11-24)
1 John 4:15-16  If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. (see verses 7-21)

No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." (see verses 27-34)

1 John 2:22-23

Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist--denying the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist--denying the Father and the Son.

1 John 2:20-21

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth.

But you have an anointing
1 John 2:27  As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit--just as it has taught you, remain in him. (see verses 24-27)
2 Corinthians 1:21-22  Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

and all of you know the truth.

I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth.
2 Peter 1:12  So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. (see all chapter 1)

1 John 2:18-19

Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

Dear children, this is the last hour;
Romans 13:11  And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. (see verses 11-14)
1 Corinthians 10:11  These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. (see verses 1-13)
James 5:8  You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. (see verses 7-12)
1 Peter 5:7  The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. (see verses 7-11)
Revelation 22:10  Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. (see verses 6-11)

and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming,
1 John 2:22  Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist--denying the Father and the Son. (see verses 20-27)
1 John 4:2-3  This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. (see verses 1-6)
2 John 7  I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. (see verses 7-11)

This is how we know it is the last hour.
1 John 4:1  Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (see verses 1-6)

They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us.
Acts 20:30  Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. (see verses 25-31)

For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
1 Corinthians 11:18-19  In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it. No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God's approval. (see verses 17-34)

1 John 2:15-17 Part 2 of 2

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

The world and its desires pass away,
Hebrews 12:26-27  At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens." The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken--that is, created things--so that what cannot be shaken may remain. (see verses 18-29, also Haggai 2:6-9)
Isaiah 34:4  All the stars in the sky will be dissolved and the heavens rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree. (see all chapter 34)
1 Corinthians 7:29-31  What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not; those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away. (see verses 25-35)
Hebrews 1:10-12  He also says, "In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end." (Psalm 102:25-27)
2 Peter 3:9-10  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. (see all chapter 3)

but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
Matthew 12:50  "For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is by brother and sister and mother." (see verses 46-50)

1 John 2:15-17 Part 1 of 2

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

Do not love the world or anything in the world.
Romans 12:1-2  Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. (see all chapter 12)

If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
James 4:4  You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. (see verses 1-12)
James 1:27  Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (see verses 19-27)
2 Peter 1:4  Through these (see verse 3) he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (see verses 1-11)
2 Peter 2:20  If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. (see all chapter 2)

For everything in the world--the lust of the flesh,
Genesis 3:6  When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. (see all chapter 3)
Romans 13:14  Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. (see verses 11-14)
Ephesians 2:3  All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. (see verses 1-10)

the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world.
Proverbs 27:20  Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are human eyes.
Ecclesiastes 4:4  And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person's envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. (see verses 1-12)
Ecclesiastes 5:10  Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.

1 John 2:12-14 Part 3 of 3

I am writing to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

I write to you, dear children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong,
Ephesians 6:10-13  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (see verses 10-18)
Psalm 27:14  Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. (see all Psalm 27)
Haggai 2:4  " 'But now be strong, Zerubbabel,' declares the LORD. 'Be strong, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land,' declares the LORD, 'and work. For I am with you,' declares the LORD Almighty." (see verses 1-9)
1 Corinthians 16:13-14  Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
1 Timothy 2:1  You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. (see verses 1-13)

and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (see verses 12-13)
Psalm 119:11  I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (see verses 9-16)
Matthew 4:4  Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.' (Deuteronomy 8:3)" (see verses 1-11)

(see all chapter 55)

1 John 2:9-11 Part 2 of 2

Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.

But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness.
1 John 1:6  If we claim to have fellowship with him (God) and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and to not live out the truth. (see verses 5-2:2)
John 3:19-21  This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God. (see verses 1-21)
John 8:12  When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (see verses 12-20)

2 Corinthians 6:14  Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? (see verses 14-18)

They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.
John 12:35  Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going." (see verses 35-43)
Proverbs 4:19  But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. (see verses 10-27)
2 Peter 2:17  These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. (see all chapter 2)
Jude 6  And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling--these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. (see verses 4-7)
Jude 13  They are like wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever. (see verses 8-16)

1 John 2:9-11 Part 1 of 2

Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.

1 John 3:10  This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God's child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. (see verses 7-10)
1 John 3:15-16  Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. (see verses 11-24)
1 John 4:20-21  Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. (see verses 7-21)

Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light,

1 John 2:7-8 Part 2 of 2

Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing
Romans 13:12  The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. [see verses 11-14]
Hebrews 10:24-25  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. [see verses 19-39]

and the true light is already shining.
John 1:9  The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. [see verses 1-18]

Isaiah 42:6-7  "I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness." [see verses 1-9]
Isaiah 49:6  ... he [the LORD] says: "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth." [see verses 5-7]
Ephesians 5:8-10  For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. [see verses 1-20]
1 Thessalonians 5:4-5  But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. [see verses 1-11]

1 John 2:7-8 Part 1 of 2

Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

Dear friends,
1 Corinthians 10:14  Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. (see verses 1-14)

I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning.
1 John 2:24  As for you, see that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. (see verses 18-29)
1 John 3:11  For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. (see verses 11-24)
2 John 5-6  And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. (see all 2 John)

Yet I am writing you a new command;
John 13:34-35  "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
John 15:12-13  "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command." (see all chapter 15)
