SALVATION 2 Corinthians 1:5-7

For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ
Romans 8:17  Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
2 Corinthians 4:10  We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
Galatians 6:17  From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.
Philippians 3:10-11  I want to know Christ--yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
Colossians 1:24  Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, which is the church.
1 Peter 4:12-13  Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation
2 Corinthians 4:13-15  It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

SALVATION Romans 13:11-14 Part 4 of 4

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now that when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. so let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ
Galatians 3:26-27  So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Ephesians 4:22-24  You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Colossians 3:9-10  Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Colossians 3:12  Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh
Galatians 5:24  Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

SALVATION Romans 13:11-14 Part 3 of 4

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now that when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. so let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness
Ephesians 5:18-20  Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy
Luke 21:34-36  "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."
Galatians 5:19-21  The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Peter 4:3  For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do--living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

SALVATION Romans 13:11-14 Part 2 of 4

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now that when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. so let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

The night is nearly over; the day is almost here
Hebrews 10:24-25  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
1 John 2:8  Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing the the true light is already shining.

So let us put aside the deeds of darkness
Ephesians 5:11  Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

and put on the armor of light
Ephesians 6:11-13  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
1 Thessalonians 5:8  But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

SALVATION Romans 13:11-14 Part 1 of 4

And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now that when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. so let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

The hour has already come
1 Corinthians 7:29-31  What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not; those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.
1 Corinthians 10:11  These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. (see 1 Corinthians 10:1-10)
James 5:8  You too, be patient and stand firm because the Lord's coming is near.
1 Peter 4:7  The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
1 John 2:18  Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.
Revelation 22:10  Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near."

for you to wake up from your slumber
Ephesians 5:14  This is why it is said: "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."
1 Thessalonians 5:5-6  You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.

SALVATION Romans 11:11-12

Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!

Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all!
Romans 11:1-2a  I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew.

Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles
Acts 13:46  Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles."

to make Israel envious
Romans 11:13-14  I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them.
Romans 10:19-21  Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, "I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding." (Deuteronomy 32:21) And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me." (Isaiah 65:1) But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people." (Isaiah 65:2)

But if their transgression means riches for the Gentiles
Romans 11:25-26a  I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved.

SALVATION Romans 1:16-17 Part 2 of 2

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed--a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." (Habakkuk 2:4)

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed
Romans 3:21  But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
Philippians 3:8-9  What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.

a righteousness that is by faith
Romans 9:30-33  What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame." (Isaiah 8:14; 28:16)

from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
Habakkuk 2:4  "See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright--but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness--..."
Hebrews 10:36-39  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, "In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay." (Isaiah 26:20; Habakkuk 2:3)  And, "But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back." (Habakkuk 2:4)  But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

SALVATION Romans 1:16-17 Part 1 of 2

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed--a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." (Habakkuk 2:4)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel
2 Timothy 1:8  So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.

because it is the power of God
1 Corinthians 1:18  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

that brings salvation to everyone who believes
John 3:16-18  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

first to the Jew
Acts 3:26  "When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."
Acts 13:46  The Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles."

then to the Gentile
Romans 2:9-11  There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.

SALVATION Acts 28:28-31

"Therefore I want you to know that God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles and they will listen!" For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ--with all boldness and without hindrance!

Therefore I want you to know that God's salvation
Luke 2:30-32  "For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of your people Israel."

has been sent to the Gentiles
Acts 13:46  Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles."

He proclaimed the kingdom of God
Acts 28:23  They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets he tried to persuade them about Jesus.
Matthew 4:23  Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ--with all boldness and without hindrance
Acts 4:29  "Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness."

SALVATION Acts 13:46-48 Part 2 of 2

Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: "We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us: 'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.' (Isaiah 49:6)" When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

I have made you a light for the Gentiles that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth
Luke 2:32  "... a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel."
Isaiah 49:6  ... he says: "It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.

When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord
Acts 13:49  The word of the Lord spread throughout the whole region.
Acts 8:25  After they had further proclaimed the word of the Lord and testified about Jesus, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.
Acts 15:35-36  But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord. Sometime later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing."
Acts 19:10  This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.
Acts 19:20  In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

We had to speak the word of God to you first
Acts 13:26  "Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent."
Acts 3:24-26  "Indeed, beginning with Samuel all the prophets who have spoken have foretold these days. And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.' (Genesis 22:18; 26:4) When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."

Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles
Matthew 21:41  "He will bring those wretches to a wretched end," they replied, "and he will rent the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him his share of the crop at harvest time."
Acts 18:6  But when they opposed Paul and became abusive, he shook out his clothes in protest and said to them, "Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles."
Acts 26:20  "First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds."
Acts 28:28  "Therefore I want you to know that God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!"
Romans 11:11  Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.

SALVATION Acts 13:26-31 Part 7 of 7

"Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now witnesses to our people."

They are now witnesses to our people
Luke 24:48  "You are witnesses of these things."
John 15:26-27  "When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father--the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father--he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning."
Acts 1:8  "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Acts 2:32  "God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it."
Acts 4:20  "As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."
Acts 5:32  "We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."
1 Peter 5:1  To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ's sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: ...

and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem
Matthew 28:16  Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.
1 Corinthians 15:3-8  For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

SALVATION Acts 13:26-31 Part 5 of 7

"Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now witnesses to our people."

But God raised him from the dead
Matthew 16:21  From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
Matthew 28:5-7  The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
Acts 2:24  "But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him."

SALVATION Acts 13:26-31 Part 4 of 7

When they had carried out all that was written about him
Matthew 1:22-23  All this took place to fulfill what the Lord has said through the prophet: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" (which means "God with us").  [Isaiah 7:14]
Luke 18:31-33  Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him and spit on him; they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again."

they took him down from the cross
Acts 5:30  "The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead--whom you killed by hanging him on a cross."
John 19:38  Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate's permission, he came and took the body away.

and laid him in a tomb
Luke 23:53  Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid.

SALVATION Acts 13:26-31 Part 3 of 7

"Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now witnesses to our people."

they asked Pilate to have him executed
Matthew 27:20-26  But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed. "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor. "Barabbas," they answered. "What shall I do then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?" Pilate asked. They all answered, "Crucify him!"  "Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!" When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!" All the people answered, "His blood is on us and on our children!" Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.
Acts 3:14  "You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you."

SALVATION Acts 13:26-31 Part 2 of 7

The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus
Acts 3:17-18  "Now, fellow Israelites, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer."

Yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath
Luke 24:27  And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
Luke 24:44-45  He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms." Then he open their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
Matthew 1:22-23  All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" (which means "God with us"). [Isaiah 7:14]

SALVATION Acts 13:26-31 Part 1 of 7

Fellow children of Abraham
Luke 3:8  "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. and do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham."
Acts 22:1-5  "Brothers and fathers, listen now to my defense." When they heard him speak to them in Aramaic, they became very quiet. Then Paul said: "I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today. I persecuted the followers of this Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison, as the high priest and all the Council can themselves testify. I even obtained letters from them to their associates in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished."

it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent
Acts 4:12  "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
Acts 28:28  "Therefore I want you to know that God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!"

SALVATION Acts 4:11-12

"Jesus is 'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.' Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."

Jesus is 'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone'
Psalm 118:22  The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; ...
Isaiah 28:16  So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic."
Zechariah 10:4  "From Judah will come the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow, from him every ruler."
Matthew 21:42  Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: 'The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?"
Ephesians 2:19-20  Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.
1 Peter 2:7-8  Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone," and, "A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were destined for.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved
Matthew 1:21  "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Acts 10:43  "All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name."
1 Timothy 2:5-6  For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.

SALVATION John 4:21-24 Part 3 of 3

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews
Isaiah 2:3  Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
Romans 3:1-2  What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? Much in every way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.
Romans 9:3-5  For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.
Romans 15:8-9  For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God's truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written: "Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing the praises of your name." (2 Samuel 22:50; Psalm 18:49)

Yet a time is coming, and has now come
John 5:25  "Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live."
John 16:32  "A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each of you to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me."

when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth
Philippians 3:3  For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh--...

SALVATION John 4:21-24 Part 2 of 3

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

You Samaritans worship what you do not know
2 Kings 17:28-29  (read verses 28 - 41 for the whole context)  So one of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria came to live in Bethel and taught them how to worship the LORD. Nevertheless, each national group made its own gods in the several towns where they settled, and set them up in the shrines the people of Samaria had made at the high places.
2 Kings 17:33-34  They worshiped the LORD, but they also served their own gods in accordance with the customs of the nations from which they had been brought. To this day they persist in their former practices. They neither worship the LORD nor adhere to the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands that the LORD gave the descendants of Jacob, whom he named Israel.
2 Kings 17:40-41  They would not listen, however, but persisted in their former practices. Even while these people were worshiping the LORD, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did.

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming
John 5:28-29  "Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out--those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned."
John 16:1-2  "All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God."

when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem
Malachi 1:11  "My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations," says the LORD Almighty.
1 Timothy 2:8  Therefore I want men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.

JOY Jude 24-25

To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy--to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

To him who is able to keep you from stumbling
Romans 16:25-27  Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith--to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

and to present you before his glorious presence
2 Corinthians 4:13-14  It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself.

without fault and with great joy
Colossians 1:22-23  But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation--if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

to the only God our Savior
John 5:44  "How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?"
1 Timothy 1:17  Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!
Hebrews 13:8  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Amen
Romans 11:36  For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

SALVATION Luke 19:8-10 Part 2 of 2

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham
Luke 3:8  "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham."

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost
Ezekiel 34:12  " 'As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.' "
Ezekiel 34:16  " 'I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.
John 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

SALVATION Luke 19:8-10 Part 1 of 2

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

and if I have cheated anybody out of anything
Luke 3:12-13  Even tax collectors came to be baptized. "Teacher," they asked, "what should we do?"  "Don't collect any more than you are required to," he told them.

I will pay back four times the amount
Exodus 22:1  "Whoever steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it must pay back five head of cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep."
Leviticus 6:4-5  "... when they sin in any of these ways and realize their guilt, they must return what they have stolen or taken by extortion, or what was entrusted to them, or the lost property they found, or whatever it was they swore falsely about. They must make restitution in full, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the owner on the day they present their guilt offering."
Numbers 5:5-7  The LORD said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites: 'Any man or woman who wrongs another in any way and so is unfaithful to the LORD is guilty and must confess the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the person they have wronged.' "
2 Samuel 12:6  "He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity."
Ezekiel 33:14-15  "And if I say to a wicked person, 'You will surely die,' but they then turn away from their sin and do what is just and right--if they give back what they took in pledge for a loan, return what they have stolen, follow the decrees that give life, and do no evil--that person will surely live; they will not die."

JOY 3 John 3-4

It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

It game me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth
3 John 5  Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you.

telling how you continue to walk in it
2 John 4  It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children
1 John 2:1-2  My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

are walking in the truth
2 Timothy 4:1-4  In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
2 Peter 1:12  So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.
2 Peter 2:1-3  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

SALVATION Luke 3:4-6

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God's salvation.' " (Isaiah 40:3-5)

And all people will see God's salvation
Psalm 98:2  The LORD has make his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.
Isaiah 42:16  "I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them."
Isaiah 52:10  The LORD will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.
Luke 2:30-32  "For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations; a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel."

We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.

we have seen it and testify to it
John 15:27  "And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning."

and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us
Matthew 25:46  "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard
1 John 1:1  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched--this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ
1 Corinthians 1:9  God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

We write this
1 John 2:1-2  My dear children, I write this to you, so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

JOY 1 John 1:1-4 Part 2 of 3

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched--this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.

The life appeared
John 1:1-4  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
John 11:25-26  Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
1 Timothy 3:16  Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
1 Peter 1:20  He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
1 John 3:5  But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.
1 John 3:8  The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.

John 1:14  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 19:35  The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.
Acts 4:20  "As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."
