Tell Archippus
Philemon 1-3  Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker--also to Apphia our sister and Archippus our fellow soldier--and to the church that meets in your home: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured
1 Corinthians 2:6-7  We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God's wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.

James 1:2-4  Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Revelation 3:14  "To the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation."

Colossians 4:7-9

Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a dear brother, a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord. I am sending him to you for the express purpose that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts. He is coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother, who is one of you. They will tell you everything that is happening here.

Tychicus will tell you all the news about me
Acts 20:3b-4  Because some Jews had plotted against him (Paul) just as he was about to sail for Syria, he decided to go back through Macedonia. He is coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother
Philemon 8-10  Therefore, although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do, yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love. It is as none other than Paul--an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus--that I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains.

who is one of you
Colossians 4:12  Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.

Colossians 4:5-6

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Be wise
Ephesians 5:15  Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, ...

in the way you act toward outsiders
Mark 4:11-12  He told them, "The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, 'they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!' (Isaiah 6:9-10)"
1 Corinthians 5:12-13  What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked person from among you.." (Deuteronomy 13:5; 17:7; 19:19; 21:21; 22:21, 24; 24:7)
1 Thessalonians 4:11b-12  You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
1 Timothy 3:7  He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.

make the most of every opportunity
Ephesians 5:16-17  ... making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

Let your conversation be always full of grace
Ephesians 4:29  Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

seasoned with salt
Mark 9:50  "Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other."

so that you may know how to answer everyone
1 Peter 3:15  But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, ...

Colossians 4:2-4 Part 4 of 4

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

for which I am in chains
Acts 20:23  "I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me."
Acts 21:33  The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done.

Ephesians 6:19-20  Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
2 Timothy 2:8-9  Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God's word is not chained.

so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ
Romans 16:25-27  Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith--to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
Ephesians 1:8b-10  With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
Ephesians 3:6  This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 2:2-3  My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Acts 14:26-27  From Attalia they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed. On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.
1 Corinthians 16:8-9  But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost, because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
2 Corinthians 2:12-13  Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the Lord had opened a door for me, I still had no peace of mind, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said goodbye to them and went on to Macedonia.
Revelation 8:8  "I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name."

Colossians 4:2-4 Part 1 of 4

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

Devote yourselves to prayer
Luke 18:1  Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
Acts 1:14  They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
Romans 1:9-10  God, whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you.
Romans 12:12  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Ephesians 6:18  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18  Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 4:1

Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.

Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair
Leviticus 25:42-43  " 'Because the Israelites are my servants, whom I brought out of Egypt, they must not be sold as slaves. Do not rule over them ruthlessly, but fear your God.' "
Leviticus 25:53  " 'They are to be treated as workers hired from year to year; you must see to it that those to whom they owe service do not rule over them ruthlessly.' "
Exodus 1:11-14  So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh. But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites and worked them ruthlessly. They made their lives bitter with forced labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.
Ezekiel 34:2-4  "Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to you shepherds of Israel who only take care of yourselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock? You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not take care of the flock. You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally.' "

because you know that you also have a Master in heaven
Isaiah 66:1-2a  This is what the LORD says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be? Has not my hand made all these things, and also they came into being?" declares the LORD.
Matthew 6:9-10  "This then is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.' "

Colossians 3:23-25

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.

since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord
Acts 20:32  "Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified."
Ephesians 1:13-14  And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
Matthew 25:34  "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.' "
Colossians 1:12  ... and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
Hebrews 9:15  For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance--now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
1 Peter 1:3-5  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

as a reward
Matthew 16:27  "For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done."

Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism
Acts 10:34-35  Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right."

Colossians 3:18-22

Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.

Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord
Ephesians 5:22  Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.

Husbands love your wives and do not be harsh with them
Ephesians 5:25  Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her ...
Ephesians 5:28  In this way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord
Ephesians 6:1  Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right.
Exodus 20:12  "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you."

Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged
Ephesians 6:4  Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything
Ephesians 6:5  Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.

and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.
Ephesians 6:6-8  Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.

Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed
1 Corinthians 10:31  So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
1 Peter 4:11  If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him
Ephesians 5:4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
Job 1:20-21  At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised."
Psalm 34:1  I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
Hebrews 13:15  Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.

Colossians 3:15-16 Part 3 of 3

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly
Romans 10:17  Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom
Colossians 1:27-28  To them (the Lord's people) God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:6-8  We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God's wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit
Psalm 47:7  For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.
Ephesians 5:19  ... speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, ...

singing to God with gratitude in your hearts
Ephesians 5:20  ... always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

since as members of one body
Romans 12:4-5  For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
1 Corinthians 6:15  Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
1 Corinthians 12:12  Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:27  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

you were called to peace
Romans 14:19  Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
Psalm 34:14  Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Romans 12:18  If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Hebrews 12:14  Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.

John 14:27  "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
Numbers 6:24-26  " ' "The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace." ' "

Colossians 3:12-14 Part 2 of 2

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Forgive as the Lord forgave you
Ephesians 4:32  Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

and over all these virtues put on love
1 Corinthians 13:13  And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (See 1 Corinthians 13:1-13)

which binds them all together in perfect unity
Romans 15:5-6  May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here there is no Gentile or Jew

1 Corinthians 12:13  For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body--whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

circumcised or uncircumcised
1 Corinthians 7:19  Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.

Colossians 3:9-10 Part 2 of 2

Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

which is being renewed in knowledge
Romans 12:2  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Isaiah 43:6-7  "I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth--everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made."

Zechariah 8:16-17  "These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; do not plot evil against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. I hate all this," declares the LORD.

since you have taken off your old self with its practices
Romans 6:6  For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--...
