John 3:17 Part 1 of 2

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world
John 6:29  Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
John 6:57  "Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me."
John 10:35-36  "If he called them 'gods', to whom the word of God came--and Scripture cannot be set aside--what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?"
John 11:41-42  So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."
John 17:8  "For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me."
John 17: 20-21  "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
John 20:21  Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Ephesians 2:4-5  But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.
1 John 4:9-10  This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

that he gave
Isaiah 9:6  For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

his one and only Son

John 1:18  No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.

that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life
John 3:36  Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on them.
John 6:29  Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
John 6:40  "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day."
John 11:25-26  Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

John 3:14-15 Part 3 of 3

"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him."

may have eternal life in him
John 3:16  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 17:2-3  "For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
Romans 2:7-8  To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
Galatians 6:8  Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
1 John 5:11-13  And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
1 John 5:20  We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

John 3:14-15 Part 2 of 3

"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him."

that everyone who believes
John 2:23  Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name.
John 5:24  "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life."
John 7:38-39  "Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
John 20:29  Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
Acts 13:38-39  "Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses."
Acts 16:31  They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household."
Romans 3:22a  This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
Romans 10:9-10  If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
1 John 1:1-2  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched--this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.

John 3:14-15 Part 1 of 3

"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him."

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness
Numbers 21:8-9  The LORD told Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live." So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.

so the Son of Man must be lifted up
John 12:32-33  "And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself." He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

that everyone who believes

John 3:13 Part 2 of 2

"No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man."

the Son of Man
Matthew 8:20  Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
Daniel 7:13  "In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence."
Matthew 12:8  "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
Matthew 8:32  "Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."

Matthew 16:27-28  "For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
Matthew 17:9  As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, "Don't tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."
Matthew 19:28  Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."
Mark 2:10-11  "But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins." So he said to the man, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home."
Mark 8:31  He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.

John 20:19-20

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders
John 7:13  But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the leaders.
John 9:22  His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue.
John 12:42-43  Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him but because of the Pharisees they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
John 19:38  Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate's permission, he came and took the body away.

Peace be with you!
John 14:27  "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
Numbers 6:24-26  " ' "The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace." ' "
Psalm 85:8  I will listen to what God the LORD says: he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants--but let them not turn to folly.
Luke 24:36  While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."
John 16:33  "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Philippians 4:7  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

John 3:13 Part 1 of 2

"No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven--the Son of Man."

No one has ever gone into heaven
Proverbs 30:4  Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? What is his name, and what is the name of his son? Surely you know!
Acts 2:34  "For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." ' " [Psalm 110:1]
Ephesians 4:8-10  This is why it says: "When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people." [Psalm 68:18] (What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)

except the one who came from heaven
John 3:31  The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.
John 6:38  "For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me."
John 6:42  They said, "Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, 'I came down from heaven'?"
Hebrews 4:14  Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
Hebrews 9:24  For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God's presence.

John 3:9-12

"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked. "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?"

How can this be?
John 6:52  Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
John 6:60  On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?"

You are Israel's teacher
Luke 2:46  After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.

we speak of what we know
John 1:18  No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
John 7:16-17  Jesus answered, "My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me. Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own."

but still you people do not accept our testimony
John 3:32-36  He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on them.

John 3:3-8 Part 3 of 3

Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."  "How can someone be born when they are old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!" Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit
1 Corinthians 15:50-54  I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." (Isaiah 25:8)

So it is with everyone born of the Spirit
1 Corinthians 2:14-16  The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, "Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" (Isaiah 40:13) But we have the mind of Christ.

John 3:1-2

Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."

John 2:23-25

Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name. But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.

Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival

Matthew 9:4  Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?"
John 6:64  "Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.
Psalm 94:11  The LORD knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.
Matthew 12:25  Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand."
Luke 6:8  But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shriveled hand, "Get up and stand in front of everyone." So he got up and stood there.
Luke 11:17  Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: "Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall."

John 2:20-22 Part 2 of 2

They replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?" But the temple he had spoken of was his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

Here is a small sample of the many verses from the Law and the Prophets concerning the coming of Jesus the Messiah
Genesis 3:15  "And I will put enmity between you (the serpent) and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
Numbers 21:9  So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.
Deuteronomy 18:15  The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me (Moses) from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him.
Isaiah 7:14  "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."
Isaiah 9:6  For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 40:10-11  See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.
Isaiah 53:5-6  But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (read all of Isaiah 53)
Ezekiel 34:23  " 'I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.' "
Daniel 9:24  "Seventy 'sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place."
Malachi 3:1  "I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant whom you desire, will come" says the LORD Almighty.

John 2:20-22 Part 1 of 2

They replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?" But the temple he had spoken of was his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

But the temple he had spoken of was his body
1 Corinthians 6:19  Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said
Luke 24:6-7  "He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' "
John 12:16  At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.
John 14:26  "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus has spoken
Psalm 16:9-10  Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
Luke 24:27  And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
John 1:45  Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

John 2:18-19

The Jews then responded to him, "What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?" Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."

The Jews then responded to him
John 1:19  Now this was John's testimony when the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was.
John 5:16  So because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him.
John 7:1  After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him.

What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?
Matthew 12:38  Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you."
John 4:48  "Unless you people see signs and wonders," Jesus told him, "you will never believe."

Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."
Matthew 16:21  From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day to be raised to life.
Matthew 26:59-61  The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death. But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward and declared, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.' "
Mark 14:57-58  Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.' "
Acts 6:13-14  They produced false witnesses, who testified, "This fellow (Stephen) never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law. For we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs Moses handed down to us."

John 2:13-17 Part 2 of 2

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father's house into a market!" His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me."

In the temple he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves
Leviticus 1:14  " 'If the offering to the LORD is a burnt offering of birds, you are to offer a dove or a young pigeon.' "
Deuteronomy 14:26  Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice.

and others sitting at tables exchanging money
Deuteronomy 14:24-25  But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose to put his Name is too far away), then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the LORD your God will choose.
Matthew 21:12  Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.

"Stop turning my Father's house into a market!"
Luke 2:49  "Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"

His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me."
Psalm 69:8-9  I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother's children; for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover
John 11:55  When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial cleansing before the Passover.
Mark 14:1  Now the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.
John 13:1  It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

Jesus went up to Jerusalem
Deuteronomy 16:1-2  Observe the month of Aviv and celebrate the Passover of the LORD your God, because in the month of Aviv he brought you out of Egypt by night. Sacrifice as the Passover to the LORD  your God an animal from your flock or herd at the place the LORD will choose as a dwelling for his Name.
Deuteronomy 1:5-6  You must not sacrifice the Passover in any town the LORD your God gives you except in the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name. There you must sacrifice the Passover in the evening, when the sun goes down, on the anniversary of your departure from Egypt.
Luke 2:41  Every year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover.

John 2:11-12 Part 2 of 2

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.

through which he revealed his glory
John 1:14  The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

and his disciples believed in him
Exodus 14:31  And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the LORD displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.
Psalm 22:4  In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them.
Psalm 40:3  He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.
Psalm 106:12  Then they believed his promises and sang his praise.
John 11:45  Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him.

After this he went down to Capernaum
Matthew 4:13  Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali--...

with his mother and brothers
Matthew 12:46  While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.
John 7:3-5  Jesus' brothers said to him, "Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do. No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world." For even his own brothers did not believe in him.
Acts 1:14  They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

John 2:11-12 Part 1 of 2

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs
John 2:23  Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name.
Matthew 12:38  Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from  you."
John 3:2  He (Nicodemus) came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."
John 4:48  "Unless you people see signs and wonders," Jesus told him, "you will never believe."
John 6:2  ... and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick.
John 6:14  After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world."
John 6:26  Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill."
John 6:30  So they asked him, "What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?"
John 12:37  Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.
John 20:30-31  Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

John 2:6-10

Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons [or about 75-115 liters]. Jesus said to the servants, "Fill all the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now."

Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing
Mark 7:3-4  (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.)
John 3:25  An argument developed between some of John's disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing.

the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine
John 4:46a  Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine.

John 2:1-5

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no more wine."  "Woman, why do you involve me?" Jesus replied. "My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee
John 4:46  Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum.
John 21:2  Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.

Jesus' mother was there
Matthew 12:46  While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.
John 19:25-27  Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, "Woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on this disciple took her into his home.

My hour has not yet come
Matthew 26:18  He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.' "
John 7:30  At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
John 13:1  It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
John 17:1  After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son that your Son may glorify you."

John 1:50-51

Jesus said, "You believe because I told you I saw  you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that." He then added, "Very truly I tell you, you will see 'heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on' the Son of Man."

Very truly I tell you, you will see heaven open
Matthew 3:16  As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.
Ezekiel 1:1  In my thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.
Acts 7:55-56  But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
Acts 10:11  He (Peter) saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.
Revelation 4:1  After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."
Revelation 19:11  I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war.

and the angels of God ascending and descending

on the Son of Man
Matthew 8:20  Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
Matthew 12:40  "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
Mark 8:31  He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.

John 1:47-49

When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit."  "How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you." Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel."

Here truly is an Israelite
Romans 9:4-5  Theirs [the people of Israel] is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.
Romans 9:6  It is not as though God's word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

in whom there is no deceit
Psalm 32:2  Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
Revelation 14:5  No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.

Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi,"
John 1:38  ... Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?" They said, "Rabbi" (which means "Teacher"), "where are you staying?"

you are the Son of God
John 1:34  "I have seen and testify that this is God's Chosen One."
Matthew 16:16  Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

you are the king of Israel
Matthew 2:2  ... "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him."
John 12:13  They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the king of Israel!" [Psalm 118:25-26]
Matthew 27:42  "He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! He's the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him."
Matthew 27:37  Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
