PRAY 1 Peter 4:7

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.

The end of all things is near 
Romans 13:11  And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
James 5:9  Don't grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
2 Peter 3:10-14  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

Therefore be alert and of sober mind 
Acts 24:25  As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, "That's enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you."
1 Peter 1:13  Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.
1 Peter 5:8  Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
1 Thessalonians 5:6  So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 1:5-6  If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Therefore confess your sins to each other 
Matthew 3:6  Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him (John the Baptist) in the Jordan River.
Acts 19:18  Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done.

and pray for each other so that you may be healed 
Hebrews 12:13  Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.
1 Peter 2:24  "He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed." (Isaiah 53:4-5)

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective 
Matthew 7:7  "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
John 9:31  "We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will."

Acts 14:23  Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.

to pray over them and anoint them with oil 
Psalm 23:5  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Isaiah 1:6  From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness--only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with olive oil.
Mark 6:13  They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

PRAY 1 Timothy 2:8

PRAY 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

With this in mind we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Otherwise when you are praising God in the Spirit, how can someone else, who is now put in the position of an inquirer, say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since they do not know what you are saying? You are giving thanks well enough, but no one else is edified.

1 Corinthians 14:1-3  Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

1 Corinthians 14:5  I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

1 Corinthians 14:2  For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.

I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding 
Ephesians 5:18-20  Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.  

Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me 
Matthew 20:22  "You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said to them. "Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?"  "We can," they answered.

Luke 21:37-38  Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives, and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.

Matthew 21:1-3  As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. PRAY Luke 18:1

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

Isaiah 40:30-31  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Luke 11:5-8  Then Jesus said to them, "Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.' And suppose the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need."
Acts 1:14  They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and with his brothers.
Romans 1:9-10  God, whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you.
Colossians 4:2  Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18  ... pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
