TRUTH 1 TImothy 6:3-5 Part 1 of 2

If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

If anyone teaches otherwise
1 Timothy 1:3-4  As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing God's work--which is by faith.

and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching
1 Timothy 1:9-11  We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers--and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.

they are conceited and understand nothing
1 Timothy 3:6  He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil.
2 Timothy 3:1-5  But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

TRUTH 1 Timothy 4:1-3 Part 2 of 2

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.

Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
Ephesians 4:19  Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

they forbid people to marry
Hebrews 13:4  Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

and order them to abstain from certain foods
Colossians 2:16  Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

which God created
Genesis 1:29  Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."
Genesis 9:3  "Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything."

to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth
1 Timothy 4:4  For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, ...
Romans 14:6  Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.
1 Corinthians 10:30  If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for?

TRUTH 1 TImothy 4:1-3 Part 1 of 2

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the fatih and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.

The Spirit
John 16:13  "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come."
Acts 8:29  The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near in."
1 Corinthians 2:9-10  However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" (Isaiah 64:4)--the things that God has prepared for those who love him--these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

clearly says that in later times
2 Timothy 3:1  But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
2 Peter 3:3  Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits  and things taught by demons

TRUTH 1 Timothy 3:15

If I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church
1 Timothy 3:5  (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?)
1 Corinthians 10:31-32  So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks of the church of God--...

the living God
Matthew 16:15-16  "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

the pillar and foundation of the truth
2 Timothy 2:16-19  Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have departed from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."

For there is one God and one mediator between God and Mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.

who gave himself as a ransom for all people
Matthew 20:28  "... just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

This has now been witnessed to
1 Corinthians 1:5-6  For in him you have been enriched in every way--with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge--God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you.

at the proper time
1 Timothy 6:15  ... which God will bring about in his own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,...
Titus 1:3  ... and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior, ...

I am telling the truth, I am not lying
Romans 9:1  I speak the truth in Christ--I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit--...

TRUTH 1 Timothy 2:5-7 Part 1 of 2

For there is one God and one mediator between God and Mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.

For there is one God
Deuteronomy 6:4  Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
Romans 3:29-30  Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.
Romans 10:12-13  For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Joel 2:32)

and one mediator between God and mankind
Galatians 3:20  A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.

the man Christ Jesus
Romans 1:2-4  ... the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

TRUTH 1 Timothy 2:3-4 Part 2 of 2

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

to be saved
John 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Romans 11:14-15  I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them. For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

and to come to a knowledge of the truth
2 Timothy 2:25-26  Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
Titus 1:1  Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness--...
Hebrews 10:26  If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, ...

TRUTH 1 Timothy 2:3-4 Part 1 of 2

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

This is good, and pleases
1 Timothy 5:4  But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.

God our Savior
Luke 1:47  And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, ..."

who wants
Ezekiel 18:23  "Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?"
Ezekiel 18:32  "For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!"
Ezekiel 33:11  "Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn!  Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?' "

all people
1 Timothy 4:10  That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
Titus 2:11  For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
2 Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

TRUTH 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14

But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But we ought always to thank God for you
Romans 1:8  First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.

because God chose you as firstfruits
Ephesians 1:4-6  For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

to be saved
1 Thessalonians 5:9  For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

through the sanctifying work of the Spirit
1 Peter 1:1-2  Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God's elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

He called you to this
Romans 8:28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 11: 28-29  As far as the gospel is concerned, they (Israel) are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God's gift and his call are irrevocable.

through our gospel
1 Thessalonians 1:4-5  For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.

TRUTH 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 Part 2 of 2

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

For this reason God sends them
Romans 1:28  Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

a powerful delusion
Matthew 24:5  "For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Messiah,' and will deceive many."
Mark 13:5  Jesus said to them, "Watch out that no one deceives you."

so that they will believe the lie
Romans 1:25  They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.

and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness
Romans 1:32  Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Romans 2:8  But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

TRUTH 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 Part 1 of 2

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works
Matthew 4:10  Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' " (Deuteronomy 6:13)

He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie
Matthew 24:24  "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."
Revelation 13:13  And it (the second beast) performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people.
John 4:48  "Unless you people see signs and wonders," Jesus told him, "you will never believe."

and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing
1 Corinthians 1:18  For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved
Proverbs 4:6  Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.
John 3:17-19  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

TRUTH Ephesians 6:13-17 Part 2 of 2

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith
1 John 5:4  ... for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one
Matthew 5:37  "All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one."
2 Thessalonians 3:3  But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.

Take the helmet of salvation
Isaiah 59:17  He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.

and the sword of the Spirit
Isaiah 49:2  He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

which is the word of God
Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

TRUTH Ephesians 5:8-10 Part 3 of 3

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.

consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth
Romans 15:4  I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

and find out what pleases the Lord
1 Timothy 5:4  But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.
James 1:27  Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Romans 12:1  Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship.
Romans 14:17-18  For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.
Philippians 4:18  I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

TRUTH Ephesians 5:8-10 Part 2 of 3

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.

for the fruit of the light
Matthew 7:15-20  "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."
Galatians 5:22-23  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

TRUTH Ephesians 5:8-10 Part 1 of 3

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord.

For you were once darkness
Ephesians 2:1-2  As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

Live as children of light
John 8:12  When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Luke 16:8  "The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light."
Acts 26:17-18  "I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me."

TRUTH Ephesians 4:20-24 Part 2 of 2

That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires
Jeremiah 17:9  The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
Hebrews 3:13  But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today", so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

to be made new in the attitude of your minds
Romans 12:2  Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Colossians 3:10  ... and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its creator.

and put on
Romans 13:14  Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

the new self
Romans 6:4  We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness

TRUTH Ephesians 4:20-24 Part 1 of 2

That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off
Ephesians 4:25  Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
Ephesians 4:31  Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
Colossians 3:5  Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
Colossians 3:8-9  But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices ...
James 1:21  Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
1 Peter 2:1  Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander of every kind.

your old self
Romans 6:6-7  For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

TRUTH Ephesians 4:15-16

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Instead, speaking the truth in love
Ephesians 4:2  Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Ephesians 1:4-6  For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ
Ephesians 1:22-23  And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows
Colossians 2:19  They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

and builds itself up
1 Corinthians 12:7  Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

TRUTH Ephesians 1:13-14 Part 2 of 2

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.

who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance
Acts 20:32  "Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified."
2 Corinthians 5:5  Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

until the redemption of those who are God's possession
Ephesians 1:7-10  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment--to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
Romans 3:24  ... and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

to the praise of his glory
Ephesians 1:6  ... to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
Ephesians 1:12  ... in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

TRUTH Ephesians 1:13-14 Part 1 of 2

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.

And you also were included in Christ
Romans 16:3  Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus.

when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation
Ephesians 4:20-21  That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
Colossians 1:5-6  ... the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world--just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God's grace.

When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal
Ephesians 4:30  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

the promised Holy Spirit
John 14:16-17  "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever--the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."

TRUTH Galatians 5:7-10

You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. "A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough." I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty.

You were running a good race
1 Corinthians 9:24  Do you not know that in a race all runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?
Galatians 3:1  You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.

That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you
Romans 8:28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough
1 Corinthians 5:6  Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?

I am confident in the Lord
2 Corinthians 2:3  I wrote as I did, so that when I came I would not be distressed by those who should have made me rejoice. I had confidence in all of you, that you would all share my joy.

that you will take no other view
Philippians 3:15  All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.

The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty
Galatians 5:12  As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!
Galatians 1:6-7  I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel--which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

TRUTH Galatians 4:16-20

Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth? Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may have zeal for them. It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always, not just when I am with you. My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, how I wish I could be with you now and change my tone, because I am perplexed about you!

Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?
Amos 5:10  There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court and detest the one who tells the truth.

What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may have zeal for them
Galatians 2:4  This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.
Galatians 2:12  For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always, not just when I am with you
Galatians 4:13-14  As you know it was because of an illness that I first preached the gospel to you, and even though my illness was a trial to you, you did not treat me with contempt or scorn. Instead, you welcomed me as if I were an angel of God, as if I were Christ Jesus himself.

My dear children
1 Thessalonians 2:11-12  For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you
Romans 8:29  For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Ephesians 4:13  ... until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

TRUTH Galatians 2:14-16 Part 2 of 2

When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified."

We who are Jews by birth
Philippians 3:4-6  ... though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.

and not sinful Gentiles
1 Samuel 15:18  "And he sent you on a mission, saying, 'Go and completely destroy those wicked people, the Amalekites; wage war against them until you have wiped them out.' "
Luke 24:7  "The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again."

a person is not justified by works of the law
Romans 3:28  For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

but by faith in Jesus Christ
Romans 9:30  What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; ...
Ephesians 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast.

because by the works of the law no one will be justified
Romans 3:28  (above)
Romans 4:25  He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

TRUTH Galatians 2:14-16 Part 1 of 2

When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified."

When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel
Galatians 2:5  We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

I said to Cephas in front of them all
Galatians 2:7  On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised (Gentiles), just as Peter (Cephas) had been to the circumcised (Jews).
Galatians 2:9  James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.
Galatians 2:11  When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.

You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew
Acts 10:28  He (Peter) said to them: "You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean."

How is it then that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?
Galatians 2:12  For before certain men came from James, he (Cephas) used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

TRUTH Galatians 2:4-5

This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

This matter arose because some false believers
Acts 1:15-17  In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) and said, "Brothers and sisters, the Scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as a guide for those who arrested Jesus. He was one of our number and shared in our ministry."
2 Corinthians 11:26  I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.

had infiltrated our ranks to spy
Jude 4  For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves
Galatians 5:1  It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:13  You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather serve one another humbly in love.

We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you
Galatians 2:14  When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?"

TRUTH 2 Corinthians 12:6-10 Part 3 of 3

Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak then I am strong.

My grace is sufficient for you
Romans 3:22-24  This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

for my power
Philippians 4:13  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

is made perfect in weakness
1 Corinthians 2:3  I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling.

That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses
Matthew 5:12  "Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

in insults, in hardships
2 Corinthians 6:4-5  Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; ...

in persecutions, in difficulties
2 Thessalonians 1:4  Therefore, among God's churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring.

For when I am weak, then I am strong
2 Corinthians 13:4  For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power. Likewise we are weak in him, yet by God's power we will live with him in our dealing with you.

TRUTH 2 Corinthians 12:6-10 Part 2 of 3

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh
Numbers 33:55  " 'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live.' "

a messenger of Satan, to torment me
Matthew 4:10  Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' " (Deuteronomy 6:13)

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me
Matthew 26:39  Going a little farther he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
Matthew 26:44  So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.

TRUTH 2 Corinthians 12:6-10 Part 1 of 3

Even if I should choose to boast
2 Corinthians 10:8  So even if I boast somewhat freely about the authority the Lord gave us for building you up rather than tearing you down, I will not be ashamed of it.

I would not be a fool
2 Corinthians 12:11  I have made a fool of myself, but you drove me to it. I ought to have been commended by you, for I am not in the least inferior to the "super-apostles", even though I am nothing.
2 Corinthians 11:16  I repeat: Let no one take me for a fool. But if you do, then tolerate me just as you would a fool, so that I may do a little boasting.

or because of these surpassingly great revelations
2 Corinthians 12:1-5  I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know--God knows. And I know that this man--whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows--was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell. I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10  However, as it is written: "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" (Isaiah 64:4)--the things God has prepared for those who love him--these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

TRUTH 2 Corinthians 11:10

As surely as the truth of Christ is in me, nobody in the regions of Achaia will stop this boasting of mine.

As surely as the truth of Christ is in me
Romans 9:1  I speak the truth in Christ--I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit--...

nobody in the regions of Achaia
Acts 18:12-13  While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews of Corinth made a united attack on Paul and brought him to the place of judgment. "This man," they charged is persuading the people to worship God in ways contrary to the law."

will stop this boasting of mine
1 Corinthians 9:15-18  But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast. For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me. What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge and so not make full use of my rights as a preacher of the gospel.

TRUTH 2 Corinthians 4:1-2

Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.

Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry
1 Timothy 1:13  Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.
1 Timothy 1:16  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

we do not lose heart
2 Corinthians 4:16-17  Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
Psalm 18:45  They all lose heart; they come trembling from their strongholds.
Isaiah 40:30-31  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways
Romans 6:1-2  What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
1 Corinthians 4:5  Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the LORD comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
Hebrews 4:12  For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.
2 Corinthians 5:11  Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.
