3 John 9-10

I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to be first, will not welcome us. So when I come, I will call attention to what he is doing, spreading malicious nonsense about us. Not satisfied with that, he even refuses to welcome other believers. He also stops those who want to do so and puts them out of the church.

3 John 14  I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face. Peace to you. The friends here send their greetings. Greet the friends there by name.

2 John 12  I  have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.

 

I will call attention to what he is doing, spreading malicious nonsense about us. 

Mark 7:21-23  "For it is from within, out of a person's heart, that evil thoughts come--sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person." (see verses 1-23)

Ephesians 4:29-31  Do  not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. (see verses 17-32)

1 Peter 2:1  Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander of every kind. (see verses 1-3)

1 Timothy 5:20  But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove before everyone, so that others may take warning. (see verses 17-20)

 

Not satisfied with that, he even refuses to welcome other believers. 

3 John 5  Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you. (see verses 5-8)

 

He also stops those who want to do so and puts them out of the church. 

John 9:22  His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. 

John 9:34  To this they replied, "You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!" And they threw him out. (see all chapter 9)
