1 John 4:19-21 Part 2 of 2

We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

For whoever does not love their brother and sister whom they have seen,
1 John 3:17  If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? (see verses 16-18)

cannot love God, whom they have not seen.
1 John 4:12  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
John 1:18  No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
Exodus 33:20  "But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." (see verses 12-23)
John 6:46  "No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father." (see verses 43-47)
Colossians 1:15  The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. (see verses 15-23)
1 Timothy 1:16  ... who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. (see verses 11-16)

And he has given us this command:
1 John 2:7  Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard.

Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
Leviticus 19:18  " 'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.' "
Mark 12:31  "The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these." (see verses 28-34, also Matthew 22:39, Luke 10:27, James 2:8)
Romans 13:9  The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery,"  "You shall not murder,"  "You shall not steal,"  "You shall not covet," and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." (see verses 8-10)
Galatians 5:14  For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." (see verses 13-26)
