1 John 3:11-12 Part 2 of 2

For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous.

Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one
Matthew 5:37  "All you need to say is simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." (see verses 33-37)
Matthew 6:13  "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." (see verses 3-15)
Matthew 13:19  "When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed along the path." (see verses 1-23)
Matthew 13:38-39  "The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels." (see verses 24-43)
John 17:15  "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one." (see verses 6-19)
Ephesians 6:16  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. (see verses 10-18)
2 Thessalonians 3:3  But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. (see verses  1-5)

and murdered his brother.
Genesis 4:6-8  Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it." Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. (see verses 1-16)

And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous.
Hebrews 11:4  By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead. (see all chapter 11)
Proverbs 29:10  The bloodthirsty hate a person of integrity and seek to kill the upright.
