1 John 3:1-3 Part 2 of 2

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

 

The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

John 15:21  "They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me." (see verses 18-25)

John 16:3  "They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me." (see verses 15:26-16:15)

 

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. but we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 

Psalm 17:15  As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness. (see all Psalm 17)

John 17:24  "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world." (see all chapter 17)

Romans 8:29  For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (see verses 18-39)

2 Corinthians 3:18  And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (see verses 7-18)

Colossians 3:4  When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (see verses 1-17)

 

All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. 

2 Corinthians 7:1  Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. (see verses 6:14-7:1)

2 Peter 1:3-4  His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (see verses 1-11)

2 Peter 3:13-14  But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. (see all chapter 3)
