1 John 2:9-11 Part 1 of 2

Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.

Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.
Leviticus 19:17  " 'Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt.' " (see verses 9-18)
1 John 3:10  This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God's child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. (see verses 7-10)
1 John 3:15-16  Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. (see verses 11-24)
1 John 4:20-21  Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. (see verses 7-21)

Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light,
1 John 3:14  We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.
1 John 1:5  This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. (see verses 5-7)

and there is nothing to make them stumble.
Psalm 119:165  Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.
Psalm 37:23-24  The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand. (see all  Psalm 37)
Hosea 14:9  Who is wise? Let them realize these things. Who is discerning? Let them understand. The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them. (see all chapter 14, see all Hosea)
