This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you:
1 John 3:11 For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. (see verses 11-18)
God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
1 Timothy 6:16 ... who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen. (see verses 11-16)
Psalm 104:2-3 The LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. (see all Psalm 104)
Psalm 18:12 Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning. (see all Psalm 18)
If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in darkness,
John 3:19-20 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. (see verses 16-21)
John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (see verses 12-20)
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? (see verses 14-7:1)
Ephesians 5:8a For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. (see verses 8-20)
1 John 2:11 But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them. (see verses 7-11)
we lie and do not live out the truth.
1 John 2:4 Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. (see verses 1-11)
1 John 4:20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. (see verses 7--21)
