1 John 2:3-4

We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.

We know that we have come to know him
1 John 2:5-6  But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
1 John 3:24  The one who keeps God's commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. (see verses 16-24)
1 John 4:13  This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. (see verses 7-21)
1 John 5:2  This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. (see verses 1-12)

if we keep his commands.
John 14:15  "If you love me, keep my commands." (see verses 15-21)
John 15:10  "If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love." (see verses 9-17)
Revelation 14:12  This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus. (see verses 1-13, also Revelation 12:17)
2 John 6  And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. (see all 2 John)

Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.
1 John 1:6  If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.
1 John 1:8  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. (see verses 5-10)
1 John 3:5-6  But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. (see verses 1-10)
