Isaiah 50:4

The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.

The Sovereign LORD
Isaiah 50:5 The Sovereign LORD has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back.
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, ...

has given me an instructed tongue
Exodus 4:12 "Now go, I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."

to know the word that sustains the weary
Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

He wakens me morning by morning
Psalm 5:3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
Psalm 88:13 But I cry to you for help, O LORD; in the morning my prayer comes before you.
Psalm 119:147 I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.
Psalm 143:8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

wakens my ear to listen like one being taught
Isaiah 28:9 "Who is it he is trying to teach? To whom is he explaining his message? To children weaned from their milk, to those just taken from the breast?" (mocking Isaiah's message from God)

NOTES:
word that sustains the weary: Isaiah 42:3 contrast with Isaiah 49:2; Jeremiah 31:25
wakens my ear: unlike Israel in Isaiah 50:2
