Mark 13:20-25 Part 2 of 2

     "If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them. At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or, 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.

    "But in those days, following that distress,

    'the sun will be darkened,

    and the moon will not give its light;

the stars will fall from the sky,

    and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.' " 

 

"So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time."

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!  (see 1 Corinthians 10:1-13)

2 Peter 3:17  

    Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position.

Revelation 2:5  

"Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place."  (see Revelation 2:1-7)

 

"But in those days following that distress, 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.' "  

Isaiah 34:4  

All the stars in the sky will be dissolved

    and the heavens rolled up like a scroll;

all the starry host will fall

    like withered leaves from the vine,

    like shriveled figs from the fig tree.  (see all Isaiah 34)

Ezekiel 32:7-8  

" 'When I snuff you out, I will cover the heavens

    and darken their stars;

I will cover the sun with a cloud,

    and the moon will not give its light.

All the shining lights in the heavens

    I will darken over you;   

    I will bring darkness over your land, declares the 

             Sovereign LORD.' "  (see Ezekiel 32:1-16)

Joel 2:10  

Before them the earth shakes,

    the heavens tremble,

the sun and moon are darkened,

    and the stars no longer shine.

Joel 2:31  

The sun will be turned to darkness

    and the moon to blood

    before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

Revelation 8:12  

    The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.  (see all Revelation 8)
