Mark 12:13-17 Part 1 of 2

Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn't we?"
But Jesus knew their hypocrisy, "Why are you trying to trap me?" he asked. "Bring me a denarius and let me look at it." They brought the coin, and he asked them, "Whose image is this? And whose inscription?"
    "Caesar's," they said.
Then Jesus said to them, "Give back to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's."
And they were amazed at him.

Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words.
Matthew 22:15
Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words.
Luke 20:20
Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be sincere. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said, so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.
Mark 3:6
Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.  (see Mark 3:1-6)
Matthew 12:20b
Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"
(see Matthew 12:9-14)
Luke 11:53-54
When Jesus went outside, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law began to oppose him fiercely and to besiege him with questions, waiting to catch him in something he might say.
(see Luke 11:37-54)

They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know that you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?"
Matthew 22:16-17
They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are. Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not?"
Luke 20:21-22
So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
