1 Timothy 4:13-14 Part 2 of 2

Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy
1 Timothy 1:18-19  Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.

when the body of elders
1 Timothy 5:17  The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.
1 Peter 5:1-2  To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ's sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them--not because you must, but because you are willing as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; ...

laid their hands on you
Acts 6:6  They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.
2 Timothy 1:6  For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
