Psalm 78:40-41 Part 2 of 2

How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the wasteland! Again and again they put God to the test; they vexed the Holy One of Israel.  

in the wilderness 
Psalm 95:8-9  "Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested me; they tried me, though they had seen what I did." 
Psalm 106:14  In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.

and grieved him in the wasteland 
Ephesians 4:30  And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Again and again they put God to the test 
Exodus 17:2  So they quarreled with Moses and said, "Give us water to drink." Moses replied, "Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you put the LORD to the test?" 

they vexed the Holy One if Israel 
2 Kings 19:22  " 'Who is it you have ridiculed and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!' " 
Psalm 71:22  I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.
Psalm 89:18  Indeed, our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.
