TRUTH Isaiah 48:1-3 Part 3 of 5

"Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel--but not in truth or righteousness--you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city and claim to rely on the God of Israel--the LORD Almighty is his name: I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted and they came to pass."  

but not in truth or righteousness 
Isaiah 59:14  So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter.
Jeremiah 4:1-2  "If you, Israel, will return, then return to me," declares the LORD. "If you put your detestable idols out of my sight and no longer go astray, and if in a truthful, just and righteous way you swear, 'As surely as the LORD lives,' then the nations will invoke blessings by him and in him they will boast."
Jeremiah 5:2  "Although they say, 'As surely as the LORD lives,' still they are swearing falsely."
Daniel 8:12  Because of rebellion, the LORD's people and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.
Zechariah 8:3  This is what the LORD says: "I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City, and the mountain of the LORD Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain."

you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city 
Nehemiah 11:1  Now the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem. The rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten of them to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the remaining nine were to stay in their own towns.
Isaiah 1:26  "I will restore your leaders as in days of old, your rulers as at the beginning. Afterward you will be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City."
Matthew 4:5  Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
