Jesus said, "I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me. You will look for me, but you will not find me; where I am, you cannot come."
I am with you for only a short time
John 12:35 Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going."
John 13:33 "My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come."
John 16:16 Jesus went on to say, "In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me."
and then I am going to the one who sent me
John 16:4b-5 "I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them. I did not tell you this from the beginning because I was with you, but now I am going to him who sent me. None of you asks me, 'Where are you going?' Rather you are filled with grief because I have said these things."
John 16:10 "... about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; ..."
John 16:17 At this, some of his disciples said to one another, "What does he mean by saying, 'In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.' and 'Because I am going to the Father'?"
John 16:28 "I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father."
and where I am you cannot come
John 8:21-24 Once more Jesus said to them, "I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come." This made the Jews ask, "Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, 'Where I go, you cannot come'?" But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins."
