John 7:18-20 Part 1 of 2

"Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him. Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?"  "You are demon-possessed," the crowd answered. "Who is trying to kill you?"

Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory
John 5:41-42  "I do not accept glory from human beings, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts."
John 8:50  "I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge."
John 8:54  Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me."

Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law.
Deuteronomy 32:45-46  When Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel, he said to them, "Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law."
John 1:17  For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Romans 2:17-18, 22-24  Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God; if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; ... You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? As it is written: "God's name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you." (Isaiah 52:5, see Septuagint; Ezekiel 36:20,22)
