JOY Hebrews 12:1-3 Part 2 of 2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Philippians 2:8-11  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death--even death on a cross! Hebrews 2:9  But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

scorning its shame
Hebrews 13:13  Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.
