John 11:8-11 Part 1 of 2

"But Rabbi," they said, "a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?" Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world's light. It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light." After he had said this, he went on to tell them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up." 

a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you 
John 8:59  At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.
John 10:31  Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, ...

Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world's light 
John 9:4-5  "As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
John 12:35-36  Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

Our friend Lazarus had fallen asleep 
John 11:3  So the sisters sent word to Jesus, "Lord, the one you love is sick."
Matthew 9:23-24  when Jesus entered the synagogue leader's house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes, he said, "Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep." But they laughed at him.
Daniel 12:2  "Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt."
