John 11:12-16

His disciples replied, "Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better." Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep. So then he told them plainly, "Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him." Then Thomas (also known as Didymus [which means twin]) said to the rest of the disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with him."

but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep
Matthew 9:23-24  When Jesus entered the synagogue leader's house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes, he said, "Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep." But they laughed at him.

I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe
John 1:6-7  There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.
John 1:12  Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--...

Then Thomas (also known as Didymus [which means twin]) said to the rest of the disciples
John 14:5  Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
John 20:24-25  Now Thomas (also known as Didymus [which means twin]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
John 20:27-28  Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe. "Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
