Jesus
said, "For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will
see and those who see will become blind." Some Pharisees who were with
him heard him say this and asked, "What? Are we blind too?" Jesus said,
"If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you
claim you can see, your guilt remains."
so that the blind will see
Luke 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (Isaiah 61:1-2; 58:6)
and those who see will become blind
Matthew 13:13-15 "This is why I speak to them in parables: Though seeing they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.' " (Isaiah 6:9-10)
What? Are we blind too?
Romans 2:19-21a ... if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth--you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself?
but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains
John 15:22 "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin."
John 15:24 "If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father."
