Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
I did tell you, but you do not believe
John 4:25-26 The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us." Then Jesus declared, "I, the one speaking to you--I am he."
John 8:57-58 "You are not yet fifty years old," they said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!" "Very truly I tell you, "Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!"
The works I do in my Father's name testify about me
John 5:36 "I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish--the very works that I am doing--testify that the Father has sent me."
John 14:11 "Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves."
but you do not believe because you are not my sheep
John 8:47 "Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them
John 10:14-15 "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me--just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and I lay down my life for the sheep."
and they follow me
John 10:3-4 "The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice."
