Philippians 2:5-8 Part 2 of 3

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death--even death on a cross!  

Who, being in very nature God 
Colossians 1:15-17  The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things and in him all things hold together.
Hebrews 1:3  The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 

did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage 
John 5:18  For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.
John 10:30  "I and the Father are one."
John 10:33  "We are not stoning you for any good work," they replied, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."
John 19:7  The Jewish leaders insisted, "We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God."

rather he made himself nothing 
2 Corinthians 8:9  For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

by taking the very nature of a servant 
Matthew 20:28  "...just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
