Philippians 2:12-13 Part 2 of 3

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

with fear and trembling
Exodus 20:18-20  When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die." Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."
Deuteronomy 4:10  Remember the day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb when he said to me, "Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children."
Psalm 2:11  Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.
Psalm 33:8  Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the earth revere him.
Psalm 111:10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.
Psalm 128:1  Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in obedience to him.
