Psalm 57:Title and verse 1

Title: When David had fled from Saul into the cave.

1 Samuel 22:1-2  David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father's household heard about it, they went down to him there. All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.
1 Samuel 24:3  He (Saul) came to the sheep pens along the way; a cave as there and Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave.

Verse 1:  Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.

for in you I take refuge
Psalm 2:12  Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Psalm 9:9  The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Psalm 34:22  The LORD will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
Ruth 2:12  "May the LORD repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge."
Matthew 23:37  "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing."

until the disaster has passed
Isaiah 26:20-21  Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by. See, the LORD is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose the blood shed on it; the earth will conceal its slain no longer.
