Mark 1:4-6

And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. John wore clothing made of camels hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey.

Luke 1:13  But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John."

Matthew 3:1-2  In those days John the baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."  (see verses 1-3)
Matthew 11:13-14  "For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come."  (see verses 7-19)
Malachi 4:5  "See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes."

John 1:21  They asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?"
    He said, "I am not."
    "Are you the Prophet?"
    He answered, "No."  (see verses 1-34)
1 Kings 17:1  Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word."  (see chapters 17-19, 2 Kings 2:1-18)
 
John wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey.  
2 Kings 1:7-8  The king asked them, "What kind of man was it who came to meet you and told you this?" 
    They replied, "He had a garment of hair and had a leather belt around his waist."
    The king said, "That was Elijah the Tishbite."

Leviticus 11:21-22  " 'There are, however, some flying insects that walk on all fours that you may eat: those that have jointed legs for hopping on the ground. Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper.' "  (see verses 20-23)
