Mark 1:35-39 Part 1 of 2

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: "Everyone is looking for you!"

    Jesus replied, "Let us go somewhere else--to the nearby villages--so I can preach there also. That is why I have come." So He traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Matthew 14:23a  After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.  (see verses 13-36)

Mark 6:46  After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.  (see verses 30-56)

Luke 5:16  But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.  (see verses 12-16)

Luke 6:12  One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.  (see verses 12-16)

Luke 9:18  Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?"  (see verses 18-22)

Luke 9:28  About eight days after this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.  (see verses 21-36)

Luke 11:1  One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."

Jesus replied, "Let us go somewhere else--to the nearby villages--so I can preach there also. That is why I have come."  

Isaiah 61:1  

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,

    because the LORD has anointed me

    to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

    to proclaim freedom for the captives

    and release from darkness for the prisoners, ...

Luke 7:22  So he replied to the messengers, "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor."  (see verses 18-35)
