Jonah 1:3 Part 1 of 2

But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the LORD.
 
But Jonah ran away from the LORD
Psalm 139:7  Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

and headed for Tarshish 
Genesis 10:4  The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites and the Rodanites.
Psalm 48:7  You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish shattered by an east wind.

They will proclaim my glory among the nations."
Jeremiah 10:9  Hammered silver is brought from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz. What the craftsman and goldsmith have made is then dressed in blue and purple--all made by skilled workers.
Ezekiel 27:12  " 'Tarshish did business with you because of your great wealth of goods; they exchanged silver, iron, tin and lead for your merchandise.' "
Ezekiel 38:13  " 'Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages will say to you, "Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?" ' "
