So
then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings
we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord
Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace
gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and
strengthen you in every good deed and word.
who loved us
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Ephesians 2:4-5 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.
1 John 4:9-10 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
encourage your hearts
1 Thessalonians 3:2-3 We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God's service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, so that no one should be unsettled by these trials. For you know quite well that we are destined for them.
and strengthen you in every good deed and word
2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
