2 Thessalonians 2:5-8

Don't you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.

Don't you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things?

1 Thessalonians 3:4  In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know.

And then the lawless one will be revealed 

2 Thessalonians 2:3  Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth 

Isaiah 11:4b  He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

Revelation 2:16  "Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."

Revelation 19:15  Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. (Psalm 2:9)

 

and destroy by the splendor of his coming 

Luke 17:30  "It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed." (see verses 26-29) 

Matthew 24:27  "For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man."

Matthew 24:37  "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man." (see verses 38-41)

Matthew 25:31  "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne."

2 Thessalonians 1:7b  This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.

Revelation 1:7  "Look, he is coming with the clouds" (Daniel 7:13) and "every eye will see him, even those who pierced him"; (John 19:31-34) and all peoples on earth "will mourn because of him." (Zechariah 12:10) So shall it be! Amen.
