1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 Part 2 of 2

For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ
2 Thessalonians 2:13-14  But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him
Romans 14:9  For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
2 Corinthians 5:15  And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

Therefore, encourage one another
1 Thessalonians 4:18  Therefore encourage one another with these words.

and build each other up
Ephesians 4:29  Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Romans 14:19  Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
