John 20:8-10 Part 1 of 2

Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.) Then the disciples went back to where they were staying.

John 20:4  Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 

They still did not understand from Scripture 
Matthew 22:29-32  Jesus replied, "You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection people will neither marry or be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. But about the resurrection of the dead--have you not read what God said to you, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." 
John 2:22  After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. then they believed the scripture and the words Jesus had spoken.
