The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, "Who then can be saved?"
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."
Then Peter spoke up, "We have left everything to follow you!"
"Truly
I tell you," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or
sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel
will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes,
brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields--along with
persecution--and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first
will be last, and the last first."
Then Peter spoke up, "We have left everything to follow you!"
Matthew 4:18-19
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people." (see Matthew 4:18-22)
John 21:19
Jesus said this to Peter to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!"
John 21:21-22
When Peter saw him (John), he asked, "Lord, what about him?"
Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." (see John 21:15-22)
