Romans 3:19-20 Part 1 of 2

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Now we know that whatever the law says
John 10:34  Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are "gods" '?" [Psalm 82:6]
John 8:17  "In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true." [Deuteronomy 19:15]
John 12:34  The crowd spoke up, "We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this 'Son of Man'?"
John 15:25  "But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.' " [Psalm 35:19; 69:4]
1 Corinthians 14:21  In the Law it is written: "With other tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord." [Isaiah 28:11-12]

it says to those who are under the law
Romans 2:12  All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
Romans 6:14  For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
1 Corinthians 9:20-21  To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's Law), so as to win those not having the law.
Galatians 5:18  But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

so that every mouth may be silenced
Psalm 63:11  But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by God will glory in him, while the mouths of liars will be silenced.
Psalm 107:42  The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths.
Ezekiel 16:63  " 'Then, when I make atonement for you for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your humiliation, declares the Sovereign LORD.' "
