When
Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light
of life." The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as
your own witness; your testimony is not valid." Jesus answered, "Even if
I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I
came from and where I am going, but you have no idea where I come from
or where I am going."
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life
Proverbs 4:18-19 The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
Matthew 5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
your testimony is not valid
John 5:31-32 "If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid. There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is true."
I know where I came from and where I am going
John 13:3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; ...
John 16:28 "I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father."
But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going
John 7:28-29 Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me."
John 9:29 "We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don't even know where he comes from."
