John 9:13-16

They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man's eyes was a Sabbath. Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. "He put mud on my eyes," the man replied, "and I washed, and now I see." Some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God for he does not keep the Sabbath." But others asked, "How can a sinner perform such signs?" So they were divided.

Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man's eyes was a Sabbath
Matthew 12:1-2  At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."
Matthew 12:9-10  Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"
John 5:9-10  At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, "It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat."

Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight
John 9:10  "How then were your eyes opened?" they asked.

this man is not from God for he does not keep the Sabbath
Exodus 10:9-10  "Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns."

How can a sinner perform such signs?
John 3:2  He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."

So they were divided
John 10:19  The Jews who heard these words were again divided.

John 9:8-12

His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked," Isn't this the same man who used to sit and beg?" Others said, "No, he only looks like him." But he himself insisted, "I am the man."  "How then were your eyes opened?" they asked. He replied, "The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed and then I could see."  "Where is this man?" they asked him. "I don't know," he said.

Isn't this the same man who used to sit and beg?
Acts 3:1-2  One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer--at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going in to the temple courts.
Acts 3:9-10  When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

So I went and washed, and then I could see
John 9:6-7  After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. "Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means "Sent"). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

John 9:6-7

After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. "Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means "Sent"). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

After saying this, he spit on the ground
Mark 7:33-35  After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man's ears. Then he spit and touched the man's tongue. He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him "Ephphatha!" (which means "Be opened!"). At this, the man's ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.
Mark 8:23-25  He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?" He looked up and said, "I see people, they look like trees walking around." Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

"Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam."
John 9:11  He replied, "The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see."
2 Kings 5:10  Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, "Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed."
Luke 13:4-5  "Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them--do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

So the man went and washed, and came home seeing
Isaiah 35:5  Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
John 11:37  But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?"

John 9:4-5

"As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

As long as it is day
John 11:9-10  Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world's light. It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light."
John 12:35-36  Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

While I am in the world, I am the light of the world
John 1:4  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
Psalm 36:9  For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
John 3:19  This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
John 8:12  When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
John 12:46  "I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness."
1 John 1:5-7  This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

John 9:1-3 Part 2 of 2

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"  "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him."

who sinned
John 9:34  To this they replied, "You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!" And they threw him out.
Luke 13:1-5  Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or the eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them--do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

this man
Ezekiel 18:20  "The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them."

or his parents
Exodus 20:4-6  "You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments."
Job 21:19  "It is said, 'God stores up the punishment of the wicked for their children.' Let him repay the wicked, so that they themselves will experience it!"

"Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him."
John 11:4  When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it."

John 9:1-3 Part 1 of 2

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"  "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him."

His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, ..."
Mark 9:5-6  Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
Mark 10:51-52  "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."  "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
John 1:38-39  Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?" They said, "Rabbi" (which means "Teacher"), "where are you staying?"  "Come," he replied, "and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent the day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.
John 1:48-49  "How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you." Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel."
John 3:1-2  Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."

John 8:56-59 Part 2 of 2

"Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."  "You are not yet fifty years old," they said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!"  "Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" At this they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

before Abraham was born
John 1:2  He was with God in the beginning.
John 17:5  "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."
John 17:24  "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world."

I am!
Exodus 3:14  God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.' "
Exodus 6:2-3  God also said to Moses, "I am the LORD (Yahweh). I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty (El Shaddai), but by my name the LORD I did not make myself fully known to them."

At this, they picked up stones to stone him
Exodus 17:4  Then Moses cried out to the LORD, "What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me."
Leviticus 24:16  " '... anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death."
John 10:31-32  Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?"

but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds
John 12:36  "Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.

John 8:56-59 Part 1 of 2

"Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."  "You are not yet fifty years old," they said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!"  "Very truly I tell you," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" At this they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

Your father Abraham
John 8:37-39  "I know that you are Abraham's descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father."  "Abraham is our father," they answered. "If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would do what Abraham did."
Genesis 18:18-19  "Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him."

rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day, he saw it and was glad
Matthew 13:16-17  "But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it."
Galatians 3:7-8  Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." (Genesis 12:3; 18:18; 22:18)
Genesis 12:2-3  "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

John 8:52-55 Part 2 of 2

At this they exclaimed, "Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?" Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word."

My Father, whom you claim as your God, glorifies me
John 16:13-15  "But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you."
John 17:1  After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you."
John 17:5  "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."

Though you do not know him
John 8:19  Then they asked him, "Where is your father?"  "You do not know me or my Father," Jesus replied. "If you knew me, you would know my Father also."

I know him
John 7:28-29  Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me."

but I do know him and obey his word
John 15:10  "If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love."

Now we know that you are demon-possessed
John 8:48  The Jews answered him, "Aren't we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?"
Mark 3:22  And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons."

Are you greater than our father Abraham?
John 8:39  "Abraham is our father," they answered. "If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would do what Abraham did."
John 4:12  "Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?"

John 8:48-51

The Jews answered him, "Aren't we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?"  "I am not possessed by a demon," said Jesus, "but I honor my Father and you dishonor me. I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death."

Aren't we right in saying that you are a Samaritan
Matthew 10:5-7  These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go proclaim this message: 'The kingdom of heaven has come near.' "

and demon-possessed
John 8:52  At this they exclaimed, "Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death."
Mark 3:22  And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons."
John 7:20  "You are demon-possessed," the crowd answered. "Who is trying to kill you?"
John 10:20  Many of them said, "He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?"

I am not seeking glory for myself
John 8:54  Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me."
John 5:41-42  "I do not accept glory from human beings, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts."

whoever obeys my word will never see death
John 11:26  Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
John 3:16  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 8:45-47

"Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!
John 18:37  "You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
John 8:31-32  To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 8:40  "As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things."
John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Whoever belongs to God hears what God says
1 John 4:6  We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God
John 10:3-4  "The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice."
John 10:25-27  Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father's name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."

John 8:43-44

"Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say
Jeremiah 5:21  "Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear: ..."
John 8:47  "Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

You belong to your father, the devil
1 John 3:8  The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.

and you want to carry out your father's desires
John 8:38  "I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father."
John 8:41a  "You are doing the works of your own father."

for he is a liar and the father of lies
Genesis 3:4  "You will certainly not die," the serpent said to the woman.
Genesis 4:9  Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?"  "I don't know," he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"

Isaiah 32:7  Scoundrels use wicked methods, they make up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just.
Proverbs 17:4  A wicked person listens to deceitful lips; a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.
Psalm 5:9  Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.
Isaiah 28:15  You boast, "We have entered into a covenant with death, with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement. When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by, it cannot touch us, for we have made a lie our refuge and falsehood our hiding place."

John 8:41-42

"You are doing the works of your own father."  "We are not illegitimate children," they protested. "The only Father we have is God himself." Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me."

You are doing the works of your own father
John 8:38  "I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father."
John 8:44  "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

Isaiah 64:8  Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

John 13:3  Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; ...
John 16:27-28  "No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father."

I have not come on my own
John 7:28-29  Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me."

God sent me
John 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 6:29  Jesus answered, "The work of God is this, to believe in the one he has sent."
John 17:8  "For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me."

John 8:38-40

"I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father."  "Abraham is our father," they answered. "If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would do what Abraham did. As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things."

I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence
John 5:19  Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does."
John 5:30  "By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me."
John 14:10  "Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work."
John 14:24  "Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."

and you are doing what you have heard from your father
John 8:41  "You are doing the works of your own father."  "We are not illegitimate children," they protested. "The only Father we have is God himself."
John 8:44  "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

If you were Abraham's children
John 8:37  "I know you are Abraham's descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word."
Luke 3:8  "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham."
Galatians 3:7-8  Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." (Genesis 12:3; 18:18; 22:18)

you are looking for a way to kill me
Matthew 12:14  But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

a man who has told you the truth I heard from God
John 8:26  "I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world."

John 8:33-37

They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?" Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. I know that you are Abraham's descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word."

We are Abraham's descendants
John 8:39-40  "Abraham is our father," they answered. "If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would do what Abraham did. As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things."
Luke 3:8  "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham."

everyone who sins is a slave to sin
Romans 6:16  Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever
Galatians 4:30  But what does Scripture say? "Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman's son." (Genesis 21:10)

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed
John 8:32  "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
Revelation 1:5  ... and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, ...

John 8:31-32

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples
John 15:7  "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."
2 John 9  Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
John 15:4  "Remain in me, as also I remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
John 8:36  "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."
Romans 8:1-2  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
2 Corinthians 3:17  Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Galatians 5:1  It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:13  You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather serve one another humbly in love.
Romans 6:6-7  For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin--because anyone who has died had been set free from sin.
Romans 6:18  You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Romans 6:22  But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

John 8:29-30

"The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him." Even as he spoke, many believed in him.

The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone
John 8:16  "But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me."
John 16:32  "A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me."

for I always do what pleases him
Isaiah 50:5  The Sovereign LORD has opened my ears; I have not been rebellious, I have not turned away.
John 4:34  "My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work."
John 5:30  "By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me."
John 6:37-39  "All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up on the last day."

Even as he spoke, many believed in him
John 7:31  Still many in the crowd believed in him. They said, "When the Messiah comes will he perform more signs than this man?"
John 11:45  Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him.

John 8:25-28

"Who are you," they asked. "Just what I have been telling you from the beginning," Jesus replied. "I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world." They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me."

But he who sent me is trustworthy
John 7:28-29  Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me."

and what I have heard from him I tell the world
John 3:32-34  He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.
John 15:15  "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you."

When you have lifted up the Son of Man
John 12:31-33  "Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself." He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me
John 14:23-24  Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me."

John 8:21-24

Once more Jesus said to them, "I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go you cannot come." This made the Jews ask, "Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, 'Where I go you cannot come'?" But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins."

you will look for me, and you will die in your sins
Ezekiel 3:18-19  "When I say to a wicked person, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself."

Where I go, you cannot come
John 7:33-34  Jesus said, "I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me. You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come."
John 13:33  "My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going you cannot come."

You are of this world; I am not of this world
John 3:31  The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.
John 17:14-16  "I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it."

if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins
John 4:26  Then Jesus declared, "I, the one speaking to you--I am he."
John 13:19  "I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am."

John 8:19-20

Then they asked him, "Where is your father?"  "You do not know me or my Father," Jesus replied. "If you knew me you would know my Father also." He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.

You do not know me or my Father
John 16:1-4a  "All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them."

If you knew me, you would know my Father also
1 John 2:23  No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts
Matthew 26:55  In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, "Am I leading a rebellion that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in the temple courts teaching and you did not arrest me."
Luke 21:37-38  Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives, and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.
John 7:14  Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach.
John 18:20  "I have spoken openly to the world," Jesus replied. "I always taught in the synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret."

near the place where the offerings were put
Mark 12:41  Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.

Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come
John 2:4  "Woman, why do you involve me?" Jesus replied. "My hour has not yet come."
John 7:8  "You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come."

John 8:15-18

"You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father who sent me. In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me."

You judge by human standards
John 7:24  "Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly."

I pass judgment on no one
John 3:17  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

I stand with the Father who sent me
John 5:30  "By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me."

In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true
Matthew 18:16  "But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.' "
Deuteronomy 17:6  On the testimony of two or three witnesses a person is to be put to death, but no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.
Deuteronomy 19:15  One witness is not enough to convict anyone accused of any crime or offense they may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
2 Timothy 5:19  Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.
Hebrews 10:28  Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

my other witness is the Father, who sent me
John 5:37-38  "And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent."

John 8:12-14 Part 2 of 2

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid." Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you have no idea where I come from or where I am going."

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life
Proverbs 4:18-19  The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
Matthew 5:14-16  "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

your testimony is not valid
John 5:31-32  "If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid. There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is true."

I know where I came from and where I am going
John 13:3  Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; ...
John 16:28  "I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father."

But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going
John 7:28-29  Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me."

John 8:12-14 Part 1 of 2

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid." Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you have no idea where I come from or where I am going."

I am
John 6:35  Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."
Exodus 3:14  God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.' "
John 10:7-9  Therefore, Jesus said again, "Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture."
John 10:11  "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."
John 11:25-26  Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 15:1-2  "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

the light of the world
John 1:4-5  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
