"I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things."
I form the light and create darkness
Genesis 1:3-4 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
Exodus 10:21-23 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt--darkness that can be felt." So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.
Psalm 105:28 He sent darkness and made the land dark--for had they not rebelled against his words?
I bring prosperity and create disaster
Isaiah 31:2 Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words. He will rise up against the house of the wicked, against those who help evildoers.
Lamentations 3:38-40 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come? Why should any living man complain when punished for his sins? Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD.
Isaiah 47:11 "Disaster will come upon you, and you will not know how to conjure it away. A calamity will fall upon you that you cannot ward off with a ransom; a catastrophe you cannot foresee will suddenly come upon you."
Amos 3:6 "When a trumpet sounds in a city, do not the people tremble? When disaster comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?"
