1 Timothy 6:8-10

But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

But if we have food and clothing we will be content with that
Proverbs 30:8 "Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread."
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

People who want to get rich
Proverbs 15:27 A greedy man brings trouble to his family, but he who hates bribes will live.
Proverbs 28:20 A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

fall into temptation and a trap
1 Timothy 3:7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil
1 Timothy 3:3 ... not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith
1 Timothy 6:20-21 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have wandered from the faith.
James 5:19-20 My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner back from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

and pierced themselves with many griefs
Joshua 7:21 "When I saw in the plunder a beautiful robe from Babylonia, two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. They are hidden in the ground inside my tent, with the silver underneath."
