1 Timothy 4:6-8

If you point these things out to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

brought up in the truths of the faith and of the good teaching you have followed
2 Timothy 3:15 ... and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales
1 Timothy 1:4 ... nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith.
2 Timothy 2:16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.

rather train yourself to be godly
1 Timothy 2:1-2 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

but godliness has value for all things
1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

holding promise for both the present life and the life to come
Psalm 37:9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
Psalm 37:11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.
Proverbs 22:4 Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life.
Matthew 6:33 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
Mark 10:29-30 "I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields--and with them persecutions) and in the age to come eternal life."
