Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the *gospel of God--the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

for the gospel of God
Romans 15:15-16 Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 And even if our *gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the *gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
*gospel = good news
