"Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go." Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!"
Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death
John 12:32-33 "And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself." He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.
John 18:31-32 Pilate said, "Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law." "But we have no right to execute anyone," they objected. This took place to fulfill what Jesus had said about the kind of death he was going to die.
John 20:17-19 Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!"
Matthew 26:2 "As you know, the Passover is two days away--and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified."
John 3:14 "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, ..."
John 8:28 So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me."
by which Peter would glorify God
John 13:36 Simon Peter asked him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus replied, "Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later."
2 Peter1:13-14 I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
