Ephesians 5:1-2

Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Follow God's example
Matthew 5:48  "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
Luke 6:36  "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

as dearly loved children
John 1:12  Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--...

just as Christ loved us
John 13:34  "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

and gave himself up for us
Ephesians 5:25-27  Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
Galatians 1:3-5  Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Galatians 2:20  I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God
Hebrews 7:27-28  Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
