Mark 2:23-26 Part 1 of 2

    One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"
    He answered, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions."   
    
One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain.
Deuteronomy 23:25  If you enter your neighbor's grainfield, you may pick kernels with your hands, but you must not put a sickle to their standing grain.  (see verses 24-25)
Matthew 12:1  At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.
Luke 6:1  One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels.
 
The Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?" 
Matthew 12:2  When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."
Luke 6:2  Some of the Pharisees asked, "Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?"
Exodus 20:10  "... but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns."  (see verses 8-11, also Deuteronomy 5:12-15)
Luke 13:14  Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, "There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath."  (see verses 10-17)
Luke 14:3  Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?"  (see verses 1-6)
John 5:10  ... and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, "It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat."  (see verses 1-15)
John 7:23  "Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man's whole body on the Sabbath?"  (see verses 14-24)
John 9:16  Some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath."
    But others asked, "How can a sinner perform such signs?: So they were divided.  (see all chapter 9)
